“Fine, can I bring my pretzel at least?” Parker asked.

“Great job Parker. Now it’s time to lift weights. Catch your breath, drink some water, and eat this apple. You need to be hydrated and fueled before the next exercise.” Eddie said. Parker sipped on a water bottle and ate an apple from the owl. “I already feel faster, yet less tired. This is so cool!”

“No Parker, we are going to start eating healthier too. I have been growing delicious food in the Community GARden at the ballpark that I want you to try. These fruits and vegetables will give you plenty of energy throughout the day. If we combine this diet with my exercise plan, you will become a Super Bear.” “I like the sound of that!” Parker roared, putting his popcorn and pretzel away.

Eddie next grabbed two full milk cartons and placed them in front of Parker.

“Do you want me to drink these, too?” asked Parker.

“No!” exclaimed Eddie. “You will hold one in each hand while doing a squat.”

Parker sped to his room and changed into workout clothes, snapping his Fresno Grizzlies headband onto his forehead. He went outside to the field and waited for Eddie to return. “First, we will jog four laps around the bases to improve your footwork and stamina,” explained the eager owl. At first, Parker was struggling and gasping for air. “This is hard. I miss my couch,” Parker moaned.

Eddie showed Parker the exercise by holding two cartons of his own and lowered his body as if he were sitting in a chair. He stood back up, instructing Parker to copy him and do it 10 times. Parker started squatting, but halfway through asked Eddie what doing this exercise was going to help him with.

Eddie answered, “These will make your body strong and allow you to throw t-shirts even farther.” Parker said, “That is very important. I don’t want to upset the best fans in all of baseball.” Parker completed the rest of the squats and grinned with excitement, “I already feel like a Super Bear.”

“Do you want your fans to be upset because you didn’t give them their prizes in time and make fun of your footwork?” asked Eddie? “No! They need their prizes!” screamed the bear as he sprinted past Eddie and completed the laps in a flash.
