2023 Farm Grown Magazine - Wild About Reading

PRESLEY BABSHOFF Q: What does farm grown mean to you?

Farm grown means a life involved in agriculture, being immersed in what it really means to grow something. This can be anything from produce to an animal and more. Being farm grown is to be raised around the environment where you play in the dirt as a kid and raise animals or grow crops on the same dirt when you get older.

Q: Why is it important to be involved in your community? It is important to be involved in your community because they have given you the surroundings you live in now. Without even realizing it, the community has given you the opportunities to succeed in life, so you should give back to the community as much as you can. Personally, I have been involved with community service since I was 8 years old. Being in Kerman 4-H and having the opportunity to hold officer positions for several years, I have been able to immerse myself in community service and giving back to its members. Q: How do you plan to remain involved with agriculture past high school? I have applied to several colleges, including Fresno State and Chico State, and have been accepted under the major of agricultural business. I have

not yet decided where to further my education, as I have other colleges to hear back from. I plan to further my experiences and involvement with agriculture in college so that I can expand my knowledge about the field. Being involved with agriculture from a young age has taught me that you can’t know everything and there is always more to learn.
